WELCOME HOME.

Where every child shines and every family belongs.

We’re so happy you’re here. As we kick off a brand-new season, we want to take a moment to welcome you with open arms and share what makes SunDance so special. For 27 years, SunDance has been a place where kids grow strong, confident, and inspired—and where families feel right at home.

Founded in 1998 by Kathy and Steve Clowes, SunDance has always been a family business, built on heart, hard work, and a love for kids. What started as a small studio has grown into a vibrant 19,000 sq ft facility offering a wide variety of classes, camps, and programs that continue to evolve with the needs of our community. Today, their daughters Kayla and Kiersten proudly carry the torch—bringing their own passion and experience while honoring the deep roots and values this place was built on.

What makes SunDance special?

  • A legacy of 27 years of family-run excellence and community connection

  • A warm, encouraging environment where kids are truly seen and supported

  • A team of devoted instructors—many of whom grew up at SunDance—who bring heart and high standards to every class

  • A wide range of programs for all ages and levels, including:

    • Dance (ballet, jazz, tap, hip hop & more)

    • Gymnastics, tumbling, aerial silks, cheer, and ninja

    • Camps, birthday parties, and seasonal events

  • A place where physical growth and personal growth go hand-in-hand

Why families choose SunDance
Because we care deeply. Every child is more than just a student—they’re a part of our story. And every family becomes a part of our extended SunDance family.

As we enter our 27th season, we’re filled with gratitude and excitement. The years have brought so many beautiful memories, and we can’t wait to create more with you and your family. Whether you’re returning or just joining us for the first time—welcome. You belong here.

Below you’ll find everything you need to make the most of this upcoming season, including class schedules, tuition details, policies, and special events. We’re thrilled to have you along for the journey.

Registration Q&A

What is the registration fee?
The registration fee is a one-time fee for families starting at SunDance. All new recreational gymnastics and dance students will pay a registration fee of $45 per student or $120 per family. SunDance families that paid the registration fee during our 2024–2025 season will not pay another registration fee. If you did not pay a registration fee during last season and are returning to SunDance, you will pay a registration fee and then be entered into our rolling enrollment.

Why don't I have to register again?
Starting in August 2025, SunDance will no longer drop students at the end of July for fall registration. Instead, all students will be automatically enrolled for all future sessions unless you choose to drop them. Our policy will remain that you must notify us by the drop date for dance and gymnastics classes, but the spot will remain yours until you choose to drop your student or they advance to the next level.

Why are we making this change?
We heard your feedback, and here’s what you shared with us:

  • Re-registering in July is confusing.

  • It creates extra hassle for families.

  • Students often end up in incorrect classes.

  • Students may miss out on being with teachers they were hoping to have.

  • Students who finally got off the waitlist have to compete for their spot again.

I dropped for summer, but would like to come back in the fall – when can I re-register?
We are currently filling spots for our session that starts in August. Please call or email the office to get back into classes!

How do I know when my child is ready to be moved up?
Our coaches are trained to evaluate each student during class, and your child’s coach will alert you when they have met the requirements for the next level. The office will receive approval from coaches when your child is ready to move up. If a class is full, we will place them on the waitlist and ensure the coach continues their growth while waiting for an opening. Want to know the skill requirements? Stop by the office and we will happily share our testing sheets with you.

General Registration for First-Time Families

What if the class I want to register for is full?
If a class appears in red during registration, it is full. Click on the class to add your student to the waitlist. When a spot opens, we will email you. If we don’t hear back within 3 business days, we will move to the next person on the waitlist. You may join as many waitlists as you like. To trial a full class, your child must be on the waitlist and wait for an opening.

All classes are first come, first serve.

My child's birthday is in the middle of a cycle. Which age group should we enroll in?

  • If your student is enrolled in Hummingbirds or Lizards and turning 5, enroll in Butterflies or Frogs.

  • If your student is enrolled in Butterflies or Frogs and turning 6, enroll in Bunnies or Squirrels.

  • If your student is in Bunnies, Flamingos, Dolphins, or Squirrels (ages 6–8) and turning 9, enroll in a 9–11-year-old class of the same level.

  • If all classes are full, your student will stay in their current class and be added to the waitlist for the next level.

Why are Flamingos and Dolphins classes 1 hour and 15 minutes?
We’ve adjusted our schedule so these classes include 15 minutes of stretching and basics, followed by 1 hour of event work. This builds skill and mobility in a well-rounded format.

Do you offer 2x per week classes?
Yes! We offer 2x per week classes for Flamingos through Bears.

What do the colors mean?
Our schedule is organized by color and animal. For example, Red Bunnies are at 4:30 and Blue Bunnies at 5:00. Colors indicate time, not level:
Y = Yellow / G = Green / O = Orange / R = Red

How do I register my child for a Dolphins or Bears class?
Dolphins and Bears require a coach recommendation to ensure proper placement. If your child was previously enrolled in one of these classes during the 2024–2025 season, email the office with your preferred day/time. You cannot register for these online without prior approval. New students will need a coach recommendation.

Do you need dance class recommendations?
Please email our dance secretary, Lilly, at lilly@thesundancestudio.com.

  • All classes end 5 minutes early to ensure smooth transitions between classes and coaches. This helps maintain a timely and organized flow throughout the day.

  • Studio Closures due to Weather: In case of inclement weather, SunDance typically follows District 38 closures. However, the Studio may reopen later in the day if conditions improve. Always check your email, website, Facebook, Instagram, GroupMe, or call the Studio for updates. A Perk Day invitation will be offered for any weather-related closures.

    • Parent Communication via GroupMe:

  • SunDance uses GroupMe, a free group messaging app, to keep families informed about weather updates, closures, and upcoming events.

  • You can download the GroupMe app from the App Store, Play Store, or use the web version on a desktop.

  • Join our GroupMe here: https://groupme.com/join_group/71827958/HTIYRijo

  • Safe Sport Policy: In compliance with USAG SafeSport policies, parents are not allowed inside the gym or dance studios unless invited by a coach or instructor. • Gymnastics: Leotard or fitted athletic wear. No loose clothing, buttons, zippers, or jewelry. Hair must be pulled back securely.

    • Dance: Class-specific attire is required for ballet, jazz, hip hop, etc., including appropriate footwear.

    • Silks/Cheer/Ninja: Clothing must cover knees and armpits. No crop tops or jewelry.

    • Students not in appropriate attire may be asked to sit out.

  • Behavior & Code of Conduct: We expect respect, kindness, and responsibility from all students and families:

    • Disruptive or unsafe behavior may result in dismissal.

    • Concerns should be handled privately through the office.

    • Bullying or harassment will not be tolerated.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Procedures

Gymnastics Students:

  • Afternoon classes (after 3:00 PM):

    • Each coach/class will have an animal-designated basket for students to store shoes, socks, water bottles and outerwear.

    • Students will use the water fountain located on the dance side.

    • At the end of class, bins will be relocated to the north exit for students to retrieve their belongings.

    • Pick-up is at the north-end doors, not the gym lobby.

  • Morning/Early Afternoon classes (before 3:00 PM):

    • Drop-off and pick-up will occur in the gym lobby.

    • Students will use cubbies for their shoes and personal items.

All Gymnastics Students:

  • Students are not allowed to wander through the building or look for their parent.

  • Please meet your child on the sidewalk outside the designated exit.

  • Students who cannot locate a parent will be taken to the main lobby for pick-up.

Dance Students:

  • Drop-off and pick-up take place in the dance lobby.

  • Cubbies are available for dance students to store belongings.

Timeliness Reminder:

  • Please plan to pick up your student 5 minutes before the end of their class to support smooth transitions and safety.

  • If you anticipate being late for pick-up, please contact the office via phone or email as soon as possible so we can ensure your student safely waits with a staff member.

  • Students tend to worry when they do not see their parent or caregiver at dismissal time, and notifying us helps us ease their wait and provide reassurance.

    Parent Viewing:

  • Parents are welcome to leave and return for pick-up at the end of class.

  • Our downstairs lobby is reserved for students to prepare for class.

  • Our upstairs lobby is open for parent viewing.

  • The dance lobby is open for viewing as well.

  • We also offer SpotTV, an app you can download to watch your student's class in real time. This service is provided free of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I join mid-billing cycle?
Yes, we prorate for the weeks that are left in the billing cycle, so you will not pay for weeks that have already occurred.

Can we skip a billing cycle?
Yes, but we are not able to hold your spot during that time. We’re happy to add you to the waitlist for your desired class and will notify you if a spot becomes available when you are ready to return.

Do we pay for the weeks SunDance is closed?
No, billing cycle dates are adjusted to account for scheduled closures and holidays.

What is the registration fee?
The registration fee is a one-time fee charged for all new students, regardless of when they join.

If I have students of similar ages, can they be in the same class?
We do our best to accommodate family schedules, but our primary placement consideration is a student's skills and ability.

Do I have to enroll my child in each billing cycle?
No. Once your child is enrolled, they are automatically enrolled in each subsequent billing cycle. You only need to notify us if you plan to drop. For example, if you plan to drop for Billing Cycle 4, you must notify the office by Week 7 of Billing Cycle 3.

Can I get a refund if I pay and then drop?
SunDance does not refund payments unless a class is canceled due to conflict, low enrollment, or other studio-based decisions. No refunds or credits are issued after the billing cycle has begun.

If the weather is bad, how will I know if there is class?
We will notify all families by email if class is canceled due to weather. Updates will also be posted on the studio voicemail, website, Facebook, Instagram, and GroupMe.

What should my child bring to class?
Gymnastics and silks students should bring a water bottle and wear appropriate attire. Dance students should bring proper shoes for their class style and a labeled water bottle. Please avoid bringing toys or valuables.

Do you offer discounts for siblings?
Yes! The child with the highest tuition pays full price, and all additional children receive a 10% discount.
