Gymnastics at SunDance
Our gymnastics program is designed to inspire movement, build confidence, and nurture a lifelong love for physical activity. From our Tumble Bugs Parent & Me classes for toddlers (18 months–3 years) to our engaging Kinder Gymclasses for preschoolers (ages 3–6), we offer age-appropriate instruction that combines foundational skill-building with fun, games, and exploration.
As children grow, they can progress into our Recreational Gymnastics Program for ages 6–18, where they continue to develop strength, flexibility, coordination, and body awareness through structured skill progressions across all gymnastics events. Whether they’re just getting started or ready for more advanced training, every student is encouraged, supported, and challenged in a dynamic, safe, and engaging environment.
Our passionate coaches keep classes active and upbeat, helping students build not only strong bodies, but also confidence, discipline, and focus. Gymnastics provides an excellent foundation for all sports—and at SunDance, we make it fun every step of the way.
GIRLS GYMNASTICS CLASSES:
KINDER CLASSES (Ages 1.5–5)
Tumble Bugs (Ages 1.5–3)
30 Minute Class – Parent & Me
Instructor and parent-led class designed to build confidence, fine and gross motor skills, and introduce spatial awareness. Students explore height, slope, and varied terrain while navigating circuits across all gymnastics events.
Hummingbirds (Ages 3–4)
45 Minute Class – Beginner
Intro to gymnastics for preschool-age girls with 0–1 year of experience. Focus on hand-eye coordination, bouncing, and identifying body dominance, while using all four gymnastics events.
Butterflies (Ages 4.5–5)
45 Minute Class – Beginner
Pre-K class for girls ready for the next step. Builds on Hummingbird concepts with added focus on strength and flexibility while continuing to explore all events.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES (Ages 6+)
Bunnies (Ages 6–8, 9–11, 11+)
1 Hour Class – Beginner
For school-age girls with 0–1 year of gymnastics experience. Introduces level 1 skills, hand-eye coordination, and foundational techniques on all four events.
Flamingos (Ages 6–8, 9–11, 11+)
1 Hour 15 Minute Class – 1 or 2x/week
For students with 1+ year of experience and coach recommendation. Focuses on refining level 1 skills and increasing strength and event familiarity. Contact coach or front office for details on skill requirements.
Dolphins (Ages 6–8, 9–11, 11+)
1 Hour 15 Minute Class – 1 or 2x/week
For girls with 2+ years of experience and coach recommendation. Covers level 2 skills, advanced strength/flexibility, and progression across all events. Not available for online enrollment. Contact your child’s coach or front office for placement.
Bears (Ages 6–8, 9–11, 11+)
1 Hour 30 Minute Class – 2x/week
For advanced gymnasts with 2+ years of experience and coach recommendation. This class focuses on mastery of level 3 concepts and prepares students for the highest level of recreational gymnastics. Not available for online enrollment.

Pre-K class that builds on Lizards-level concepts. Introduces strength, flexibility, and full event familiarity across the men’s apparatuses.
RECREATIONAL CLASSES (Ages 6+)
Squirrels (Ages 6–8, 9–11, 11+)
1 Hour Class – Beginner/Intermediate
For school-age boys with little or no experience. Focuses on level 1 and level 2 skills and foundational techniques on all six men’s events. This class prepares athletes for future progressions in strength, control, and form. Contact the front office or your child’s coach to learn more about skill readiness or next-level pathways.
CO-ED CLASSES:
Our co-ed programs offer exciting movement experiences that blend strength, agility, creativity, and performance. Whether your athlete is flipping, climbing, dancing through the air, or learning to cheer with confidence, our co-ed offerings provide something for everyone.
CHEER
Our co-ed cheer program is a high-energy introduction to the fundamentals of cheerleading. Athletes will work on:
Motions – clean arm positions and proper technique
Jumps – toe touches, pikes, hurdlers, and more
Stunts – beginner partner and group stunting
Dances – choreographed routines to upbeat music
Classes are designed to build strength, flexibility, and confidence in a fun and encouraging environment, while helping kids learn the foundations of teamwork and performance.
Cheer 1 (Ages 6+): Introductory cheer class covering motions, jumps, tumbling, and dance.
Cheer 2 (Ages 8+) – Invite Only: For returning students ready for more advanced skills and choreography.
Cheer 3 (Ages 8+) – Invite Only: Advanced class focused on team-based stunting, tumbling combos, and performance preparation.

SILKS
A unique aerial dance class that builds strength, flexibility, and creativity. Students will learn to climb, invert, footlock, twirl, and drop while performing artistic sequences in the air. Ages 6+.
NINJA
Ninja Jr. (Ages 4–6) & Ninja 1 (Ages 5–7)
No prerequisites. Focus on coordination, balance, jumping off high objects, swinging, climbing, running, and skipping.
Ninja 2 (Ages 7–12)
Prerequisites: Comfortable trying new skills. Should have a cartwheel, forward roll, backward roll. A handstand is helpful but not required. Focuses on parkour-style jumps, obstacle courses, tumbling, tricking, and intro to wall walking.
Advanced Ninja – Coach Recommendation Required
For athletes already working on parkour jumps, tumbling, tricking, and wall walking. Includes expanded wall skills and teeterboard training.
ACRO
No prerequisites. A performance-based class that explores partner acrobatics, small and large group lifts, and basic tumbling. Ends with a parent showcase after the 8-week session. Ages 8+.
Tumbling
Beginner Tumbling (Ages 8–12)
Prerequisites: Cartwheel, backbend, front limber. Focus on mastering front/back walkovers, round-offs, handsprings, tucks, and combining skills.
Beginner Tumbling (Ages 12+)
No prior experience needed. For older beginners learning cartwheels, rolls, back bends, progressing toward handsprings and tucks.
Intermediate Tumbling – Coach Recommendation Required
Students must have mastered: round-off, back tuck, front tuck, handsprings. Focus on combining skills into tumbling passes and beginning pikes/layouts.
Advanced Tumbling – Coach Recommendation Required
Must be proficient in round-off back handspring back tuck, pikes, layouts. Focus on twisting skills, double rotations, and complex pass combinations.
Wall Walking / Teeterboard (Ages 10+)
No strict prerequisites, but previous Ninja experience is highly recommended. Students should be comfortable with aerial movements and eager to explore flips, wall-walking, and launching off the teeterboard. Ages 10+.
Homeschool Gymnastics
This co-ed class is designed specifically for homeschooled students looking for active daytime movement and social engagement. Students will explore gymnastics skills, obstacle courses, and movement games while improving coordination, strength, and confidence in a fun and supportive environment. No prior experience required. Ages 6+.
Dance at SunDance
Our dance program welcomes students ages 2 through adult and offers a creative, challenging, and supportive space to grow as movers and artists. Through structured classes in a wide range of styles, students develop strength, flexibility, coordination, rhythm, and body awareness—skills that benefit not only dance but all areas of athletic and personal development.

Class Levels & Placement
Dancing Babes (Ages 2–3)
An introductory creative movement class for our youngest dancers. Focuses on rhythm, listening, basic shapes, and imaginative movement.
Pre-K Combo (Ages 3.5–4)
An age-appropriate introduction to both ballet and tap. Builds coordination, musicality, and classroom confidence.
Jr. Combo (Ages 4.5–5)
Pre-K and Kindergarten-level combo class with a stronger focus on basic ballet/tap foundations and group movement.
Beginner (Beg.) (Ages 6+)
Ideal for students new to dance or those with experience in combo classes. Introduces structured ballet, jazz, tap, or hip hop technique.
Pre-Intermediate (Pre-Int.)
For dancers with experience beyond combo classes. Students can demonstrate beginning-level syllabus skills and are ready for new challenges.
Intermediate (Int.)
Requires 2+ years of training (outside of combo classes). Dancers can execute beginning-level syllabus skills and are beginning intermediate technique. Ballet students at this level should be taking class twice per week.
Teen
Designed for older beginners or returning dancers who want to learn alongside peers in a welcoming and age-appropriate setting.
Intermediate/Advanced (Int./Adv.)
For dancers with 4+ years of experience. These students can execute beginning/intermediate syllabus skills and are entering the advanced curriculum. Dancers at this level typically train 2–4 days per week.
Advanced (Adv.)
For highly experienced dancers with 6+ years of training. Dancers at this level can execute advanced syllabus skills and are often preparing for performance, competition, or pre-professional programs. Typically trains 4–5 days per week.
Dance Class Styles
Combo Classes (Dancing Babes, Pre-K Combo, Jr. Combo, Kinder Combo)
These half-ballet, half-tap classes help dancers build balance, rhythm, coordination, and musicality in a supportive environment.
Ballet
The foundation of all dance forms. Classes range from beginning movement and music exploration to advanced technique, discipline, and artistry.
Pre-Pointe / Pointe
Pre-Pointe builds the strength and technique needed to safely transition to pointe work. Pointe students must have 2+ years of pre-pointe training and take 8+ hours of dance per week.
Technique-Only
Non-performing classes designed to enhance strength, control, and injury prevention. Often paired with a performance-based class for balanced development.
Jazz / Jazz Acro
Focus on turns, leaps, and progressions, with Jazz Acro incorporating gymnastics, strength, and flexibility elements. Classes take place in both the studio and gym.
Modern
Explores abstract movement, full-body articulation, and expressive choreography. Includes Horton and Dunham techniques.
Lyrical
Blends ballet, modern, and jazz styles. Choreography emphasizes emotional connection, storytelling, and musical interpretation.
Tap
Emphasizes rhythm, precision, and musical expression through percussive footwork. Students master terminology and choreography at every level.
Hip Hop
Upbeat, energetic movement set to age-appropriate, current music. Dancers explore isolations, footwork, and freestyle in a fresh, funky format.
